Tanzania lies just south of the equator and on the whole enjoys a tropical climate, except in the high mountains (like Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru) where temperatures can get below freezing, especially at night. Along the coast (see temperatures for Dar es Salaam), it stays quite hot and humid with heavy and reliable rainfall especially during the rainy season. Tanzania has two rainy seasons, generally the heaviest rains (called Masika) usually fall from mid-March to May and a shorter period of rain (called mvuli) from November to mid-January. The dry season, with cooler temperatures, lasts from May to October.

Wednesday Day 3:
Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park

After an Early Breakfast at your lodge depart to the Serengeti, home to the big five and numerous plains game with a stop at the interesting and informative museum at Olduvai Gorge. The gorge is the site of years of research into the anthropology of early man by the famous Leakey family and prominent universities.

Drive to the Central Serengeti, home to the big five and numerous plains game. This area of lush, rolling grassland and tree-lined watercourses is the hub around which the Serengeti migration circulates.
And the resident game in Central Serengeti is spectacular. Plains game in the form of zebra, topi, gazelles, impala, buffalo and giraffe all frequent the area throughout the year. Lion are rarely far away and leopard, ever present, but always elusive, stalk the rocky kopjes and river lines.

Spend the rest of the day game viewing within the park. In the evening be transferred to the lodge for rest, dinner and overnight.

Thursday Day 4:
Serengeti National Park

Morning and afternoon Game Drives in Serengeti National Park. Or take an early morning balloon flight over the Serengeti followed by a 'bubbly' bush breakfast (optional extra). Serengeti forms togethers with Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve, Africas most famous wildlife park. The annual wildebeest migration through both of these parks, is the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rain. But that is not where the game viewing ends: large prides of lions, elephants and giraffes in the grassland, gazelles and elands just to mention a few.

Friday Day 5:

Here you have a very real chance of spotting the big five: lion, elephant, endangered black rhino, buffalo and leopard plus countless other African mammal species. Just before dusk, Ascend and drive back to the lodge.

Saturday Day 6:
Ngorongoro - Tarangire National Park

After Breakfast, depart to Tarangire National park with picnic lunch for full day game viewing. Tarangire is the classic Africa of lore with shimmering acacia stands, old baobab trees, Masai herds and herds of elephant. Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It's the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem - a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared Oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed. Just before dusk, drive back to the Camp.
